David Lawson

David Lawson is a writer, performer, director, and teacher.

 

Lawson performs one-man shows all around New York City and across the country. His show Nazis and Me is about his encounters with hate groups.

Lawson's one-man show was Horror Helps.  was named among "the best Halloween theater in 2024" by Time Out New York and recieved a positive review from Thinking Theater NYC.

Lawson performed in the

Comedy Central sketch "The Rage Restaurant."

Since March 2014 Lawson has hosted the monthly Astoria Bookshop Storytelling Show, a free storytelling open mic the first Thursday of each month. The show has been profiled by HarlemView and has been featured in the New York Times.

Lawson has taught storytelling classes at Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning

and Queens Theatre.

Lawson has taught workshops where students learn to write and perform one-person shows.

Lawson has directed several one-person shows including Richard Cardillo’s one-man show Invisibility that won the Audience Choice Award at the 2019 FRIGID New York Festival
